I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers. [continues next]

Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah. [continues next]

Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth. [continues next]

[continues previous] Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers; [continues next]

And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.

Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.

[continues previous] Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah.

[continues previous] Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.

[continues previous] And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;

And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping? [continues next]

LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear: [continues next]

By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? [continues next]

Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? [continues next]

And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? [continues next]

[continues previous] Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?

Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?

Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

[continues previous] Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease. [continues next]

[continues previous] Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? [continues next]

[continues previous] And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

[continues previous] Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?

Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.

Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained? [continues next]

Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven. [continues next]

And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety. [continues next]

Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. [continues next]

And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. [continues next]

Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

[continues previous] Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

[continues previous] Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.

And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. [continues next]

[continues previous] And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.

[continues previous] Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.

[continues previous] And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them.
